Capital FC is now offering spots for the 2020-21 season to every player who is currently registered on a team in the 2019-20 season. We want to create as much certainty as possible for players and families as well as be able to plan appropriately so we can jump into the next season as smoothly as possible.
Here is the process for registration for the 2020-21 season:
1. RESPOND TO ACCEPT YOUR SPOT BY MAY 15
All players who wish to play for the club in the 2020-21 season MUST respond and register. There is no fee due at the time of registration. Fill out your response through google forms here. Responses are due by May 15th.
We do not want to create barriers to participating next year and want to work with you in this challenging time for many families and for the club as well. Players can choose to pay the membership fee of $100 now or in August. Families who are able to make a payment now will help the club in this challenging time.
2. CONTINUE TO TRAIN WITH YOUR TEAM THROUGH THE SUMMER
We will continue to offer “virtual training” for as long as we are not able to take the field. Once COVID19 restrictions begin to lift, we will contact you with more information about how we will return to the field. From what we know, this will likely be a phased approach and may look quite different from traditional practices at first and may include:
- Small Group or Circuit training
- Open Play at CFC Complex or indoor center
- Low/no cost inter-squad, inter-club and other scrimmages.
3. TRANSITION TO TRADITIONAL PROGRAMMING
Depending on the situation, we will have a supplemental tryout period for players who are not yet with the club during the summer. All current and new players will be assessed during this period for player placement, and no decisions will be made until after this time. Roster decisions will be made by August 1, unless restrictions do not allow for at least two weeks of training by this date.
At that time, you will get an email with an invitation to complete the registration process for the 2020-21 season.
Because there are so many unknowns about the next year, the club has not yet determined a final price for the 2020-21 season. You can expect that fees will be relatively in line with what they have been in the past. All players who are currently on scholarship will have their scholarship level automatically extended into the 2020-21 season.
Once we have more clarity on how COVID19 restrictions will be relaxed, we will communicate with you on the fee structure for next year.

Q: Is my CFC player guaranteed a spot on the same team that I was on this year?
A: No. All current CFC players are guaranteed a spot within the club for the 2020-21 season, but not specifically on the same team that they were on for the 2019-20 season.
Q: How will CFC coaches make their decisions regarding team placements?
A: Our coaching staff and Director of Coaching will utilize the summer period to continue to assess players within the entire age group and make decisions at the end of the summer. Each placement will be based on a player’s development and performance during the 2019-20 season, and the overall player pool for the age group.
Q: How does this process impact non-CFC players who might be interested in joining the club?
A: All current CFC players will be offered a spot with the club for the 2020-21 season. After all current CFC players have had a chance to register for the upcoming season, players from other clubs may be offered a chance to register on CFC teams. We expect this will happen at a supplemental tryout process in July or August.
Q: Do I need to buy a new uniform kit for my player this year?
A: Yes. The club operates on a 2-year uniform cycle and this is the first year of a new cycle. We have worked with adidas and Tursi’s in order to reduce the cost of our standard kit in recognition of the fact that many families may be under financial stress during these unprecedented times. We are asking all returning players to make their kit purchase by September 15. We will send out information on how to order the new kit in the near future for those wanting to purchase before that.
Q: My family’s financial situation has changed and we may need more help. Can we apply for additional scholarships?
