All CFC Activities Cancelled Until April 1st

SALEM, Ore. —  After consulting with the Board of Directors, local health leaders, and OYSA, we will follow the recommendations of the Governor and the Oregon Health Authority on social distancing. Effective immediately, all Capital FC activities are canceled until Wednesday, April 1st.

With yesterday’s declaration from Governor Brown and the pandemic worldwide, it has become clear that we need to take proactive measures quickly to protect our community’s well-being.

For Pre-Competitive and Competitive Families, Oregon Youth Soccer announced today that they are cancelling all remaining winter league games and Premier spring league games. All non-premier spring league games have been cancelled through April 1st. We will follow their lead and will also cancel all practices from now until Wednesday, April 1st. We will continue to monitor the situation to see if more cancellations are necessary.

CFC Goalkeeping activities will be postponed until Wednesday, April 1st. Skill challenges and videos will still be posted weekly on their page.

For Juniors families K-4, we will continue to work behind the scenes as a staff to prepare for the upcoming season. Games will begin on the 18th as planned. Please be patient with our staff and volunteer coaches as we will have to do things differently during this period and may have some bumps or delays. Jerseys will be picked up the first week of practice.

For Juniors families 7-8 Boys, since we are doing an in-house league like K-4, the procedure will be the same for them. Games will begin on the 18th as planned. Jerseys will be picked up the first week of practice.

For Juniors families 5-8 participating with MVSL, we are working with leaders from the MVSL on solutions as the start date for games had been April 4th. After speaking with them it sounds like they will delay league play until April 18th. Jerseys will be picked up the first week of practice.

For Mighty Mites Families (3-5yr olds), at this point this does not impact your program. Sessions will begin on the 18th as planned. Jerseys will be picked up the first week of practice.

Salem Indoor youth activities are canceled until April 1st. Adult activities will continue as planned with some additional preventative measures taken. These will be sent out to all participants separately.

Timbers U23 and Atletica tryouts scheduled for this month will be postponed and rescheduled to a new date in April.

We are sure many are left with questions and uncertainty. That being said, we believe that we can be wise but not fearful, treating the situation with the seriousness it deserves but continuing to do sensible and human things, coming together as a community for the sake of those most at risk.

As the situation continues to change, we will follow the direction of our public health officials. Any updates will be announced through our social media, our website, and more.
