SALEM, Ore. — Capital FC Timbers have just announced the hiring of James Williamson to help establish a network between CFC and college coaches. The goal of this position is to help players learn and better understand the college recruitment process as well as form connections with coaches.
“Being appointed to this position, my primary focus is on meeting each athlete where they are at in their recruitment process and help them understand the college recruiting cycle,” states James. “Additionally, I want to establish a strong presence and network amongst college coaches within the Northwest.”
James has been involved with college soccer on both the male and female sides across all levels – Junior College, NAIA, and NCAA. He hopes to build trust between CFC and colleges so coaches know the kind of quality player they are receiving when recruiting from the club.
“We are extremely pleased to have James be a part of the team at CFC,” said Director of Coaching, Joe Wentworth. “As the club evolves, James’ role will expand and with his page of experience, we feel our players will reap the rewards.”
CFC is set to host two exposure nights to give players and colleges a chance to connect. The first camp will be held December 9th and 10th. The current college coaches set to attend are listed below –
-Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT)
-Southern Oregon University (SOU)
-Western Oregon University (WOU)
-Northwest Christian University (NCU)
There is NO registration needed for this exposure night. Players will participate in a training session run by CFC coaches, giving college coaches a chance to watch, evaluate, and connect.
