Capital FC Timbers 01G and 02B both took home trophies this past weekend after each winning the State Cup for their division. CFC was one of two clubs to have both male and female teams represented in the tournament and win the title.

This was the 01G squad 5th time winning a State Cup. The team conced zero goals all tournament long. Tied 0-0 at the half, the team was able to hold possession and create opportunity to pull off the win. Goals by Maria Juarez and Amani Noor in the second half lifted the team to a 2-0 victory.

“I am proud of my team for winning State Cup without conceding a goal,” stated head coach, Likius Hafeni. “Looking forward, we want to prepare well and have a good run in the upcoming regionals tournament!”

The 02B took home their first championship Sunday after a thrilling double-overtime, 4-3 victory. At halftime, the game was tied 0-0. Heading into overtime, it was tied 2-2. The squad was down three different times throughout the contest while goals were provided across the field from four different players — Nathan Martinez, Kevin Flores, Omar Ceja, and Caleb Kiner. The squad came back in the second half of double overtime to cap off their season with a state title.

“It was an honor to coach these players,” stated head coach, Tim Kagey. “They’ve worked so hard towards this the past three years, and this championship was well deserved.”

Congratulations to four other CFC competitive teams who also took home trophies from other tournaments:

01B – President Cup Finalist // 02B Black – Founders Cup Champions // 04G Founders Cup Finalists // 06B State Cup Semifinalists
