Capital FC breaks ground on new turf field

After over three years of preparation and planning, Capital FC began construction on its first artificial turf field on Monday morning.

The groundbreaking ceremony drew board members past and present including several who were involved in the original purchase and development of the complex in the 1990’s.

Scott Rapp, CFC’s Board President, began the ceremony by recounting the history and details of the project, referring to this as a “significant moment in the history of the club.”

Collin Box, CFC’s Director, recounted some stories from his behind-the-scenes work on the field. “I remember the feeling earlier this year when I said to myself, ‘This is actually going to happen!’ And here we are.”

Hal’s Construction Group began excavation on Monday morning. Once rock and drainage work is finished, Baez Sports Group will begin rolling out the artificial turf. The turf will be rolled out by the end of October, with LED lights expected to be installed in November.

“This is so much more than just a soccer field,” said Box. “This is a place where kids will learn the value of hard work, self discipline, and team work. This field represents thousands of memories that will last these kids a lifetime.”

Capital FC continues to raise money for the project. Please consider making a donation by clicking here or contact Collin (collin@capitalfctimbers.com) for business recognition opportunities.
