CFC Community grieves loss of John Chambers

CORVALLIS, Ore. — Former CFC player and current Oregon State men’s soccer player John Chambers died Friday night at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis.

Chambers, who was 19, was entering his sophomore year at Oregon State. He was a defender on the men’s soccer team last season. Chambers grew up playing soccer at CFC. he played with the Portland Timbers Academy from 2013-2014. He was a soccer standout at Sprague High School in Salem, earning first-team all-league honors his senior season before enrolling at Oregon State in the spring of 2015.

“My heart aches for John’s family,” said Oregon State men’s soccer coach Steve Simmons in a statement. “His impact on our lives cannot be measured. We are all better people for having John in our lives.”

Celebration of Life

A celebration of life for John Chambers will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at 2:00pm  at Capital FC Soccer Fields. The family would appreciate seeing friends of John wear OSU/Sprague HS/Portland Timbers/BOCA and CFC colors to help honor an incredibly gifted and loved young man. You may bring a side dish for a BBQ. CFC fields will be open to play soccer which we all know John would want.
